As a future English teacher and a student I have found that many people tend to have doubts on how to develop an essay. So I decided to explain the basic rules for making an essay.
First of all, what is an essay?
An essay is a non-fiction writing of a specific topic, where the author expresses his/her personal point of view or recollects data to provide a general point of view of a news, movements, opinion, and so beyond.
How do you write an essay?
1- Decided on what topic you want to write about.
2-Research the topic, (try finding original and accepted sources).
3-Make an outline.
4-Write your thesis statement.
5-Write your essay by using the structure you proposed in your outline.
6-Helpful hints when writing the actual essay:
*Introduction: Start the sentence by grabbing the attention of the reader. The theme must also be applied in the introduction.
*The body: With the ideas that were written in the outline, you will use them to develop your paragraphs body.
*The conclusion: You will sum up all of your views to provide a final perspective. The thesis must also be included in this part.
****(Some sites suggest writing the body of the essay and then writing the introduction and then the conclusion. Personally I prefer to start from the introduction so when I keep writing onto the next paragraph I can make them connect, therefore it will be easier for the reader to follow the structured order. If the introduction still needs to be fix, at the end go back to it and modify it.)
