Examples of Autobiographies.

L's Autobiography:

I was born and raise in a small suburb west of downtown Chicago, Illinois called Maywood. I live in South Bend, Indiana right now it’s a cool little city. I’m the oldest of two girls my younger sister is 32 and I’m 40.

My name Leslie Halsell. I went to Washington Elementary and was very athletic and a honor roll student. After graduating from there I went to Proviso East High School, did very well academically and played varsity volleyball and softball. Growing up with my generation was kind of rough. Our parents did not know how to educate us on violence, sex, and drugs. There were a lot of gang-banging going, teen age sex, and lots of drug use. Unfortunately I fell victim to all 3. I end up getting kick out of school, I got pregnant and after my pregnancy I started using drugs. After leading such a rough life, I found my way and got myself together. I have a beautiful son his name is Levi and he is 25 years old. I started attended college at Ivy Tech Community College, and just transferred to Phoenix Online to finish my degree in Human Services.

Life to me means friends, family and doing the right things. I am pretty much on the happy side of life but just like everyone else I still have my days. That means that I have some sad days and some depressed days. However I put all my trust in the Lord and he always seems to work it out. Being that I was the black sheep of the family I try my best to do the right things so that I do not disappoint my family or myself no more. I love them whole heartedly and they love me too. I just want to be a better person and I know as long as continue to do the right things and trust in the Lord I can’t go wrong.

The year 2009 I will graduate from college and start working on a Bachelor’s degree. I want to help people, because helping people helps me. I have a lot of experience of messing up; I just want to teach people that when you hit rock bottom the only thing you can do is go up.

Sunny Florida's autobiography:

I was born on a warm, sunny day in June in Sarasota, Florida. I still live in Sarasota, Florida, and I go to school at Booker High School. I live with my mom,Kate; my brother, Jake; and my Aunt Molly. When I was born, my bother was fifteen-months-old and hid under the table from me. Jake is a sweet kid and he would do anything for me, but like all brothers and sisters we fight like cats and dogs. Sometimes when no one was around, Jake would come up to me and bite my toes for no reason. I still love him but only because he is my brother.

My name is Sally Friday. I started school when I was six-years-old. I went to kindergarten through fifth grade at Booker Elementary and while I was there, I won an award for perfect attendance. I also won an award for honor roll all four terms. Then I attended Booker Middle School, and there I also won a couple of awards: one for perfect attendance and two for being named Student of the Year--one in sixth grade and the other in eighth grade. I am now a senior at Booker High School. I plan on finishing school and maybe going to a community college.

Life to me means friends and family who you can trust and who trusts you. I am pretty much on the happy side of life, but like all teens I do I have my "days of." That means I do have some sad days or depressed days. I have a few frinds here that sort of look out for me and when I am having a bad day, I have someone here at school to talk to. I make my school days go by thinking of either the next hour or what I will do when I get home or on the weekend. I'm not seeing anyone now but when I did have a boyfriend, our favorite places to go were the movies and out to dinner. Sometimes we went to the beach. Only once we went to an amusement park: Universal Studios. We were together for twenty-nine days and then we broke-up; so no, I don't think it was forever.

The year 2018 will make twenty years since I graduated from high school. I think I will probably be still living here in Sarasota. I will be quite comfortable with my living situation, meaning that I will be married to Paul Smith. We will have one child: Linda Teresa Smith, who at that point will be three-years-old and a little devil. Paul is a sweet guy; he will do anything for anyone. He is six feet tall and built well. He has baby blue eyes and blond hair. We will have been together for five years and will be happy together--this is forever.

This is for the students who just found out that their teacher asked them to write a specific type of essay and still have doubts on deciding which one to do.

Basic explanation of the most common types of essays:

Persuasive or Argumentative Essay: makes a claim or states a position where you back it up with real evidence.

Comparison and Contrast Essay: where one debates the differences and similarities between two situations or topic.

Helpful infomation about making an essay in English:

As a future English teacher and a student I have found that many people tend to have doubts on how to develop an essay. So I decided to explain the basic rules for making an essay.

First of all, what is an essay?
An essay is a non-fiction writing of a specific topic, where the author expresses his/her personal point of view or recollects data to provide a general point of view of a news, movements, opinion, and so beyond.

How do you write an essay?
1- Decided on what topic you want to write about.
2-Research the topic, (try finding original and accepted sources).
3-Make an outline.
4-Write your thesis statement.
5-Write your essay by using the structure you proposed in your outline.
6-Helpful hints when writing the actual essay:
*Introduction: Start the sentence by grabbing the attention of the reader. The theme must also be applied in the introduction.
*The body: With the ideas that were written in the outline, you will use them to develop your paragraphs body.
*The conclusion: You will sum up all of your views to provide a final perspective. The thesis must also be included in this part.
****(Some sites suggest writing the body of the essay and then writing the introduction and then the conclusion. Personally I prefer to start from the introduction so when I keep writing onto the next paragraph I can make them connect, therefore it will be easier for the reader to follow the structured order. If the introduction still needs to be fix, at the end go back to it and modify it.)
